About Kogo Fujiki-Mayo
As a passionate and experienced communications specialist, I strive to tackle some of the world’s biggest issues by producing informative and entertaining media content to shape key policy and decision-making.Currently, I’m the Content Specialist at the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Central Operations. In my role, I'm responsible for producing news and stories across our digital and traditional platforms to showcase the impact the Flying Doctor has on rural, remote and regional communities in South Australia and the Northern Territory. For the previous three years I was at Australian not-for-profit organisation, AnglicareSA. As one of the largest social service organisations in South Australia, AnglicareSA supports around 55,000 people each year. In my role, I was responsible for all things media and comms — video production, photography, writing/editing, design and digital media. At the heart of my position was generating news and stories to: spotlight vital social and economic issues; bring the community together; and promote AnglicareSA's support services. After completing my Bachelor of Journalism and Bachelor of International Relations degrees, in 2018 I joined the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, the region’s principal political grouping, as an intern in the Governance/Engagement and Public Affairs teams. I have had experience in news reporting for the Fiji Sun national newspaper in Suva, have worked as an editor for university news publications, and run opinion and satirical news websites.Previous to this I worked managing hotels and bars in Adelaide while completing my university studies and worked in Japan for a little while as a translator and administrator in international recruitment. When I’m not on the job, you’ll either find me writing music, at the gym, on the soccer/cricket field, or travelling abroad.
