Proud to have built a statewide network of CS education advocates working collaboratively to ensure that all of Georgia's K-12 students have access to a quality CS education with equity. I work with Dr. Caitlin Dooley and Bryan Cox at GaDOE since they serve as the anchor institution for our statewide collective. I also have created a partnership with Georgia Tech's Constellation Center for Excellence in Computing where they provide backbone functions support for our collective: communication, coordination, evaluation, and fundraising. I lead the coordination of all working groups: policy, professional development, data, industry/philanthropy, equity, and raising awareness. I also lead the process of creating and implementing our three-year strategic plans. Our biggest win so far has been to help pass SB 108 in 2019 which mandates CS education in all Georgia middle schools by 2023 and in all high schools by 2025. It also provides GaDOE with $750,000 in annual CS capacity-building grants to local school districts. I also help to organize the CS4GA annual summits for teachers, counselors, IT staff and school/district leaders to learn and collaborate together around CS education in Georgia with a major emphasis on equity and diversity.
