BeeKeeper is a social enterprise in development and hatched between a brother (Koky) and sister (Sophia) in 2012 while Sophia was in hospital fighting cervical cancer. It was with the greatest sadness that Sophia passed away on the 15th of August 2012 after an 18 month battle. In her will she left her car to her brother Koky, with instructions to sell it and use the money to create a business that would inspire change and help support the continued work of BabyTree Projects, a charity they founded together to fight for children’s rights and to bring quality education to the doorsteps of children in rural Cambodia. Since that time Koky has dedicated his life to making sure that he keeps his promise to his sister. To this end Boy & Bee was born in 2012 and in 2014 we decided to change the name to BeeKeeper. We are guided by five core values. We believe in different, in freedom, a sense of humour, finding beauty in the smallest things and happiness. All our work, internally and externally, is conducted on a relationship of honesty and trust. In 2012, Koky won the RMIT SEEDS FUND for his BeeKeeper pitch worth $1,000. And in 2013, Koky won the $15,000 RMIT Social Enterprise Group Award again for his pitch to start the BeeKeeper social enterprise.

Created BabyTree Projects (BTP) dedicated to bringing quality to the doorsteps of children living in rural Cambodia. Since 2007, we have generated over $250,000AUD and have built and established 5 schools (4 primary and 1 secondary) in partnership with the Cambodian government. Once we have created a safe space for the children to attend classes, through meaningful participatory workshops and consultations, we work towards a picture of quality education that has been described by the community themselves. In addition, to school projects we have also completed 3 library projects (partnering with local communities and Room to Read), establish vegetable gardens, planting fruit trees, supplement teachers income, scholarships and more. We have been awarded various certificates by the Cambodian Government in recognition of our work in rural Cambodia.
