RESEARCH WORK:To improve the sensitivity of the high speed dynamic comparators a cascode cross-coupled pair is incorporated which improves the differential gain of the pre-amplifier and reduces the common-mode voltage seen by the latch, which leads to a much faster regeneration. The proposed comparator is designed, simulated, and compared with the state-of-the-art techniques in 65nm CMOS technology.Transient analysis, offset calculations, noise and delay simulations, kickback and power calculations are accomplished on the proposed comparator and a symmetric layout is drawn to verify the post-layout simulations. A novel ADC design by employing the novel comparator structures is in progress. With satisfactory results, design will be sent for fabrication to a standard foundry. An on-chip fully functional high speed ADC is expected finally from this research work.
