As project planner I am responsible for the decent planning of various projects within the organisation. By drawing up the planning, monitoring the progress, and analysing impacts and (potential) risks, I provide insight into the health of the project. I utilise this to report and advisethe project manager about the realisation of their (time) targets.

I have been part of several committees of the study association T.F.V. 'Professor Francken. Together with fellow students I organised various activities such as parties or members weekends in the role of chairman and treasurer. I have also been in an committee which organised the annual introduction camp for the first-year students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Groningen. At the moment I am part of the design committee, providing various promotional materials.

As full-time treasurer of the board of T.F.V. ‘Professor Francken’ I was responsible for the financial matters of the study association. This particularly involved managing the budget, balance and liquidity, but also collecting money from debtors, members and companies sponsoring the association.As a board member I was leading the study association together with three other board members. We organised study-related and career-related activities, but also social events. Moreover we supervised almost twenty committees, who organised various activities for the association. As the board of 2016-2017 we strove for the internationalisation of the association, we stimulated contact between the students and improved the connection with the several research groups of Applied Physics.

Together with five others organised various activities for the interns of NS. Amongst others, we visited the 'koninklijke wachtkamers' in Amsterdam, the maintenance company in Haarlem, and the InterCity New Generation mock-up in Amersfoort.

As intern at the Prognostics & Health Management department of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen I contributed to their goal of preventing malfunctions in railway vehicles and prescription of necessary maintenance operations. By means of a system of linear differential equations I constructed a mathematical model of a simplified railway vehicle in order to detect slipping wheels. By adding knowledge of the physical functioning of a train, its velocity was predicted over a time-span of two minutes after the train's departure from a railway station, and subsequently compared to its actual state. Although further research is necessary, the result could be integrated within an algorithm developed in order to monitor slippery rails.

It was also important to initiate a few social activities, creating a better contact between the members of the mentor group.
