MY STORY:As a little girl, my mother bought me a book about Benjamin Franklin. I was fascinated and intrigued by all of the things he invented in his life. It could be considered ironic or destiny that I happened to get into the field of Patent Law. I got my start as a runner in the Patent Office to file documents, conduct patent searches, and make copies of missing documents for in-house files. As my career progressed, I learned and moved up to support partners, seasoned practitioners, and attorneys. I have found this field do be extremely detail oriented, deadline driven, and relationship oriented. This fits me well and it gives me great satisfaction in the work that I do. HOW I MEET DEADLINES: I am known for my ability to look ahead, see what needs to be done, and create a plan to handle multiple due dates and projects. I often have documents and projects ready for review before an attorney asks for them. I understand the importance of due dates in the Patent Law industry and the fees that can result from any missed deadlines. I am vigilant about keeping a calendar and I am well-versed in providing timely reminders to clients, attorneys, and department heads to ensure timeliness. AREAS WHERE I EXCEL: I have been told that my commitment and consistency that I offer to the position, workload, and quality are my strengths as a Patent Legal Assistant. I am obsessed with getting every detail correct and feel a huge amount of satisfaction when a job is done correctly and before I am asked to do it.
