An Artist by birth, turned to photography in the early 80's.This new medium gave me new opportunities and scope for experimentation in various fields.I studied Fine Arts in Malta and attended a Summer Scholarship in Perugia, Italy (Accademia di Belle Arti - Pietro Vannucci) in 1975.My forte in photography is fashion, portraiture and fine art, however I could handle just as well advertising, architechtural photography and PR.In 1995 I set up my own fully equipped studio. With time I could specialize in portraits and fashion photography. However I still did advertising and PR. All this was still on analogue (film) as digital photography was still in its infancy. So any special effects had to be produced directly on film.Work was challenging yet it gave me more scope to produce the seemingly impossible.With the arrival of digital, certain problems were solved though new ones appeared. However I learnt the new medium well, but I still prefer to shoot in the traditional way and leave Photoshop just to add some minor effects. In our line, obviously the client may request certain special effects and we have to comply.I am quite knowledgeable in the application of studio lighting, have worked with 35mm, medium format and digital slr's.Recently I worked in Bologna Italy, as a digitizer with Family Search, USA. Here I was photographing old town records dating back to the late 19th century, using the D.Cam.I am willing to work anywhere in Europe so relocation is no problem for me. I feel I could contribute more to photography and am always in search of improving my skills and working for the perfect photo.
