Breakthrough in software design and development has happened. Things that seemed impossible are now a reality. I know well, as I used all the wonders that Google Cloud Platform can offer to deliver some stunning projects over the last 2 years. Case number one – How to build a supply chain management system in 2 weekends and deliver 3M doses of vaccines through it in a year?In February 2021, deep in the dark Covid times, I’ve been asked to help with Covid vaccine delivery in Ireland. The team of 20 on the ground desperately needed a CRM system to manage all the conversations going between supply chain and GPs. I created the 1st working version of this system within two weekends and I’ve been blessed with a couple of Aer Lingus pilots as my system operations folks. What happened over the next ten months simply beggar belief. Working alongside a team of Relationship Managers, 40 people strong, we got to know intimately the story of every one of the 3 million doses of vaccine we have helped to deliver. CRM system grew into an automated beast, coordinating delivery of 100k vaccines each week, 600k booster doses at its peak. All of this through a clever mix of Google Sheets for UI and automation, plus relentless conversations with customers. Case number two – How to build a contact centre and orders processing backend in 4 days and deliver 3M of antigen tests in 8 months?Nov 2021, the start of free antigen test deliveries in Ireland. Vision Consulting recruited and put together a contact centre in 4 days, I built 2 systems at once. One for contact centre agents to record the order and have it shipped the same day. Second for processing orders (contact centre and the HSE website) into delivery packets for our logistic partners. We launch on Monday, 29th Nov, process 8k orders on the 1st day and 30k orders through the 1st week without a hiccup. Our logistic partner gets correct delivery file on time every hour. Tests are flowing to people’s homes. So far system has flawlessly processed 3M orders, running 24/7. It runs in the fully automated mode, processes 200k orders in the peak week, 40k orders in the peak day. It’s entirely on Google Cloud Platform, leverages Google Sheets as automation engine and Google Cloud MySQL. The list of cases is longer. Technologies like Bootstrap, Google Web Apps, Google Sites, Google Data Studio bring user experience and use cases to the whole new level.The revolution has happened, custom build technology is no longer a chore, it’s something you must have.
