About Konstantin Kovalev

Prof., Dr. Konstantin Kovalev (born in 1971) studied theoretical physics in Moscow Physical-Engineering Institute (MEPhI). From 1992-1996 he made research study for magnetic systems for MHD generators (PhD in 1995). In 1995 he joined Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) and focused on theoretical study of electromagnetic and hysteresis processes in bulk HTS elements. The result of this researches was the development of HTS electrical machines on the base of bulk HTS elements with output power up to 0.5 MW with cooling of liquid nitrogen (second Doctor degree in 2006). Since 2002 he is a scientific head of Russian Center of Superconducting Electrical Machines and Devices. He currently interested in the use and practical application of cryogenic equipment on the base of HTS, including electrical motors and generators, fly-wheels and magnetic suspension systems. He is a Professor of MAI and member of Russian Government Committee for Applied Superconductivity Applications. He has authored over 100 scientific and technical papers and referee many international journals.Website: www.mai.ru
