Since January 2014 I was a full time PhD student in the University of Oulu Graduate School. My main focus area is the energy efficient wireless communications. By 2018 I completed 15 PhD courses with average grade 4.7/5, participated in several Summer Schools and published my research results in more than 50 papers.

Researcher for wireless and embedded systems. Mostly I am focused on developing and implementing a new platform for future heterogeneous wireless sensor and actuator networks. The platform is composed of highly flexible and reconfigurable hardware and software components, and features high computing power and low consumption. I am taking care about architecture and underlying mechanisms development, electronic circuits design, PCB design, prototyping, embedded software development. Also I am involved in few other works related to design and prototyping of other wireless systems and their components, as well as network-level simulations. Besides I am supervising few M.Sc. students and participating in new project application development.

Research visit to Yokohama National University.

In 2009-2013 I participated in five R&D projects: three research projects funded by TEKES and two projects funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Council of Oulu Region. In those, I planed and conducted applied R&D work in the field of wireless data transfer technologies and embedded systems. My main focus was on the applied research about the non-specific short range wireless communication and wireless sensor and actuator networks. Over those years I have designed, developed and tested multiple applications using different short-range wireless communication technologies (including, but not limiting to IEEE 802.15.4, Bluetooth Low Energy/Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11) and different embedded systems (PIC, Atmel and TI microcontrollers and systems-on-chip; DSPs; FPGAs). The applications were developed for the needs and in close cooperation with different partner companies from the Industry. Besides carrying out the actual R&D work, I actively participated in the reporting, presentation of the results (e.g., in the workshops and conferences) and preparation of the applications for the new projects.

The major purposes of the visit were to transfer the knowledge and conduct the research about the performance of IEEE 802.15.4 wireless communication standard. Also the ways of possible further cooperation were discussed.

While being with Centria, I have participated in several R&D projects related to long-range wireless communication systems operating in ISM bands. I was developing the novel radio signal demodulators and encoding/decoding system implementations using the Altera and Xilinx FPGAs.

I have participated in the development of ultra long range adaptive shortwave communication system, being responsible for interfacing radio and a PC. I have designed and developed both the hardware and embedded software.
