I create opportunities for people to connect to their inherent wisdom, confidence and compassion through designing and leading mindfulness based programs that help people to become more resilient and therefore better able to respond skillfully to the inevitable challenges of workplace stress, aging/health, caregiving and life transitions. I bring together my skills as a long time meditator and theatre artist to offer programs that are engaging, practical, accessible and quite often. . . fun! After a long career in theatre, earning an MFA, performing in New York, directing and creating original work, I discovered the connection between mindfulness and theatre when I saw that what I was teaching my acting students was to be present in their bodies while interacting with other people and experiencing emotions. In other words, living a mindful life! In 2012 I started to develop workshops to help people find small practical ways to integrate mindfulness into their lives. I wanted to help people who did not have the time or interest to go to a Buddhist center or sign up for an eight week intensive Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course still access the benefits of mindfulness. In 2013 - 2014 I spent a year under the guidance of Ken Nelson, a senior leader at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health learning the craft of experiential workshop design, giving me the tools to create programs that engage participants to open up new possibilities in the way they understand themselves, others and the world around them. In 2014 - 2015 I completed a mindfulness teacher training at the Mindfulness Training Institute and became certified to teach a six week introductory course in mindfulness. This course combines contemporary science and traditional wisdom to offer an introduction that has depth and is relevant to modern life. Currently, I am pursuing a wellness coaching certification and plan to focus on stress reduction, work/life balance and optimism.
