The exercise series examined national response plans and procedures including the National Cyber Incident Response Plan, the National Response Framework, and the NRF Cyber Incident Annex.There were four overarching objectives that guided the NLE 2012 process:- Examine the NCIRP in guiding the Nation to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a significant cyber event- Evaluate government (Federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international) roles and responsibilities in coordinating national cyber response efforts and their nexus with physical response efforts, including allocation of resources- Examine the ability to share information across all levels of government and with the private sector as well as the general public, to create and maintain cyber incident situational awareness, and coordinate response and recovery efforts- Assess key decision points and decision making in a significant cyber event -

Metro AreaProgram Manager for the NLE 2010 Support Team for FEMA/National Exercise Division.National Level Exercise (NLE) 2010 consisted of a cycle of emergency preparedness events that concentrated on response, recovery, and continuity activities pertaining to an improvised nuclear device (IND) attack in the United States. It was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and consisted of a series of workshops, seminars, tabletop exercises, a multi-level functional exercise, and selected full scale exercises. The centerpiece of NLE 2010 was conducted May 17-18, 2010, primarily in the National Capital Region (NCR) and focused on several discussion-based activities among senior representatives of federal department and agencies, as well as linkage to a full-scale exercise (FSE), Eagle Horizon 10, sponsored by DHS/FEMA/National Continuity Programs Directorate. The entire exercise cycle placed unprecedented emphasis on the recovery phase, with targeted recovery planning throughout the process and a national TTX culminating the exercise series. -
