As a staff software engineer at IGT I am responsible for:* Leading and conducting complex technical analysis to design and implement machine software.* Leading and executing the full scope of a complex software engineering plan.* Serving as a technical resource and design critic to less senior engineers.As a member of the Online & Special Projects team in the Game Technology Group, I have been responsible for delivering a number of successful products and features, including:[BlueOS]In late 2014 I recognized the need for a unified IGT custom Linux OS stack for use in cost-sensitive embedded hardware. I developed a full linux distribution, composed of over 200 discrete open-source and IGT proprietary components, including a build system that isolates the hardware abstraction layer of the stack to reduce the amount of time required to re-tool the software for new hardware designs.[Video Topper Media Controller]In mid-2015 I led the development effort to port BlueOS to an ARM based board for use in driving video topper signage on our AXXIS 23 and Crystal Core cabinets. I also led the design efforts around the application layer for this project.[RemoteGL]In mid-2015 I led architectural design of an OpenGL implementation that allowed processes to render content outside of a single graphical context presentation system on the AVP, IGT's legacy product. RemoteGL allowed us to rapidly integrate Webkit (including WebGL support) into AVP without having to rework our video driver to support multi-context rendering (a costly endeavor) and re-design our presentation engine to support compositing from multiple processes.[Webkit Integration]In early 2016 I helped to facilitate the integration of Webkit into our AVP product with a third-party vendor in order to meet contractual delivery obligations for WCLC. I am also currently working on adding Webkit support to the Ascent product to accomplish feature parity with AVP.

During this period at IGT, I started development on the award winning sbX Service Window. I was responsible for delivering the next generation dynamic content delivery mechanism on IGT's flagship product, the AVP (Advanced Video Platform). I successfully integrated Adobe's Flash Lite 4 player into our own proprietary rendering engine, which added ActionScript 3 capabilities to the Service Window. This work gave greater flexibility to our content developers for creating rich, dynamic and engaging experiences for IGT's customers.My work on the sbX Service Window is deployed on casino floors worldwide, including Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Motor City Casino Hotel in Detroit, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and other casino operations.I was one of two team leads on the Multimedia Engine Team here in Reno, NV. As a team lead I spent time working with project management groups to develop successful product stories, working with my peers to apply sound software architecture principals to their work, and working with groups in other organizations to help deliver a cohesive product vision around the sbX Service Window.

After graduating from Oregon Tech with a BS in Software Engineering, I returned to IGT to start my professional career. During this period at IGT, I worked on a small team of engineers responsible for maintaining a Windows XP embedded device called the MCBII and assisting in delivery of bonus game content on the device. The MCBII was a "top box" that installed on top of our 960 video and 960 stepper slot machines. It gave our casino customers the ability to deliver rich 3D bonus game experiences to their players.A few months into my career, I saw an opportunity to port our bonus game software layer and move the platform away from Windows XP embedded, thus saving a significant license cost per-unit. I spent over a year working on the port before a different opportunity presented itself elsewhere in the company. The work never made it into production due to shifting product focus within the company, but the work gave me an opportunity to build my first custom Linux stack.
