Puget Sound Interagency Communiciations Center

• Responsible for accurate and timely communications to citizens, agencies, media, and elected officials on 8 wildland fires, 1 natural disaster, and 1 coordination center assignment for a total of 10 assignments over.
• Dispatched as a single resource or with Type 1 or 2 Interagency Incident Management Teams in lead, deputy, or supporting Public Information Officer Type 2 roles.
• Led teams of 2-12 qualified and in-training PIOs to articulate strategies and communicate priorities of incident response; provided guidance and feedback to achieve excellence in messaging.
• Utilized social media, agency websites, public meetings, personal contacts, paper postings, and radio & television broadcast interviews to convey critical information to citizens.
• Most incidents had wildand-urban interface areas, where messaging about mitigating hazards and fire prevention tactics were important components.

Ellensburg, Washington, United States

Responsible for leadership for Southeast Region's Wildland Fire Preparedness & Response program, Forest Practices Program, and Landowner Assistance Programs. Staff included 5 direct reports, 35 permanent employees, and up to 110 seasonal fire personnel. Provided leadership and stakeholder contact for multiple Type 1 and Type 2 complexity wildland fires.

Lewis County & Pacific County

Responsible for all aspects of forest land management deliverables on ~120,000 acres of state trust lands. Provided direct leadership & mentoring for up to 30 professional forest managers & forest engineers at a time. Collaborated with other land managers and scientists to ensure correct and consistent application of environmental regulations and policies.

Thurtston County, Grays Harbor County

• Key Responsibilities & Accomplishments:
• Prepared and presented annual timber sale action plan to deliver 15 million board feet of timber through thinnings, utility poles, and creative harvest design in visually sensitive areas.
• Led young stand establishment and maintenance program, covering ~3000 acres of tree planting, mechanical pre-commercial thinning, or herbicide treatments annually.
• Supervised up to 6 professional foresters implementing harvest layout, harvest compliance, tree planting, contracted herbicide applications, and manual pre-commercial thinning projects.
• Trained and mentored up to 9 professional foresters in young stand management principles and policies.
• Contract development and compliance on 40+ projects, including forest road construction, timber harvests, and forest plantation management.

Thurston County, Grays Harbor County

• Key Responsibilities & Accomplishments:
• Produced 8 million board feet annually in compliance with Habitat Conservation Plan; worked independently and in teams.
• Field layout included boundary identification, stream typing and buffer delineation, retention tree selection and marking, and forest road design in accordance with State Uplands’ Habitat Conservation Plan, Forest.
• Administered 20 timber harvest and road construction contracts in 4 years.
• Coordinated with US Forest Service researchers on Copper Ridge Harvesting Options Study.
• Trained for, and participated in, statewide wildfire suppression program as FFT1 and FFT2.
