I joined Starburst as the Head of Product for Trino. I worked closely with the creators of Trino and co-founders of Starburst in defining and executing a roadmap for Trino that became the foundation of Starburst Galaxy, a Cloud based and fully managed version of Trino (Presto).I was leading three teams.- The Lakehouse connectors teams. Responsible for features like Hive, Iceberg, Delta and Hudi support. Some of the core components of the federated Data Lake functionality of the Starburst product lines.- The performance team. Responsible for maintaining the performance edge of the Trino query engine.- The SQL team. An amazing team, responsible for introducing some state of the art features on the Trino engine like Polymorphic Table Functions.- Worked closely with the Product Marketing team in defining core components of the GTM strategy, including the definition of the ICP for both the Cloud and Enterprise product lines. - Worked with the DevRel team in creating and executing a strategy that helped us more than double the community size of Trino and acelerate the establishment of the Trino brand as the successor of the Presto project.- managed a group of amazingly talented PMs in delivering highly impactful features like support for batch analytics. - Worked closely with the leadership team in designing and executing a large scale reorganization of product and engineering.- Worked with the partnerships team in establishing a partnership with Google that resulted in the integration of Starburst with BigQuery adding federated capabilities to BigQuery.

It allows data engineering teams to deploy pipelines that make it easy to collect customer data from every app, website and SaaS platform.- Joined the company through an acquisition as the second leadership member, reporting to the CEO and the BoD.- Drove company growth through product scaling from zero revenue to $1M+ in ARR in less than a year, which led to our successful raise of our Series A round led by Kleiner Perkins.- Created a 3 year forward looking product strategy, which resulted in leading the successful merger of two legacy products post acquisition, designing and building the product organization.- Defined the charter for and scaled engineering teams in the US and in the EU.- Selectively partnered with Sales on enterprise deals.- Worked with Data Engineering and Product teams to spec product requirements for Enterprise customers.- Managed three engineering teams of 20 total engineers for the following product dimensions:* Batch Processing* Control Plane* Data Warehouse & Data Lake support* CDC support - Initiated partnerships with Snowflake, Confluent and DataBricks.

Blendo was one of the first products in the ELT category. Blendo offered a completely self-served SaaS ELT solution that allowed data analysts to establish and manage data pipelines. - More than 400 companies used Blendo as part of their data infrastructure- +50% US based.- My role as the CEO was split 50/50 between Product and Go to Market activities. I was responsible for collecting feedback, creating product specs and executing together with the engineering team.- Sourced and recruited all Blendo employees, including some specialized and talented engineers. Cultivated a broad range of talent (interns to experienced engineers to advisors).- Successfully exited the company by merging it with RudderStack.- Architected and built a highly available, fault tolerant and scalable Cloud ELT platform, based on Zookeeper, Kafka and written in Scala. The platform was able to deliver exactly once delivery semantics, support more than 10,000 pipelines while supporting from small data workloads up to syncing billions of events accessed through REST APIs. - Wrote and supported more than 40 source connectors including RDBMSs systems like PostgreSQL, MySQL and MS SQL together with Cloud Applications like Salesforce, Netsuite, Marketo and others.- Integrated with all the major Cloud Data Warehouse systems including, Snowflake, Google BigQuery and Amazon Redshift.
