Profile bio

About Kaden Ouimet

With a dedication to democratic values, I have devoted my life to amplifying student voices and strengthening our representative institutions.Frustrated by the lack of true representation in my high school student government, I spearheaded a Constitutional referendum that shifted its function from a glorified party planning committee into a robust advocate for student rights. My success with the Constitution ignited my journey promoting democracy—catalyzing me to create the Task Force in 2021. Since then, the Task Force has engaged in research projects, advocacy campaigns, and coalition-building efforts to defend our institutions from authoritarianism. With Public Citizen in 2022, I took on the Arizona legislature in a decisive battle to safeguard the state’s democracy from Prop 128—a dangerous ballot measure designed to effectively end Arizona’s referendum process. Through a grassroots alliance of student advocacy groups, I educated thousands of young voters—successfully defeating the legislature’s power grab with over 63% of the vote. When I arrived at American University in Washington, D.C., I set out to transform the university into the nation’s center for civic education. Today, I continue my work with the Task Force in the National Capital Region, developing initiatives to mobilize young energy and defend American liberties and institutions.I am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at American University in Washington, D.C.
