Worked on stem cell and laminin-111 based therapies for preventing age associated decline in skeletal muscle regeneration and function.

Worked on the following pre-clinical studies in the Extremity Trauma and Regenerative Medicine task area:- Decellularized biomaterials and minced muscle autografts for skeletal muscle regeneration after volumetric muscle loss (VML) injury.- Pharmaceutical treatments for the mitigation of skeletal muscle fibrosis after VML injury. - Immune modulation strategies for muscle and bone regeneration in polytrauma models.

Worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in Dr. Gary L. Bowlin and Dr. John J. Ryan's laboratory at VCU. - Developed electrospun bioresorbable vascular grafts composed of natural (collagen/silk/elastin) and/or synthetic (polydioxanone/polycaprolactone) polymers. - Performed mechanical (modulus, strain at break, peak stress) and structural (fiber diameter, pore size, porosity, surface area to volume ratio) characterization of vascular grafts.- Studied bone marrow derived macrophage polarization (M1/M2) on electrospun vascular grafts. - Tested the angiogenic and regenerative potential of the vascular graft using cell based assays.- Investigated the signaling molecules involved in macrophage polarization on the vascular grafts.

Developed assembly code to implement various biomedical signal processing applications using Blackfin ADSP-BF533 processor.

Participated in medical and clinical rounds throughout the hospital, viewed clinical procedures and surgeries. Gained hands-on experience in the use of biomedical devices and equipment in major departments of the hospital.
