Supporting fisheries for 30 First Nation communities in the Atlantic and Gaspé region. This includes advocacy, policy analysis and research, business planning, marketing, management, and adapting to changes in regulations and policies from the federal and provincial governments. Provided advice and direction on regional and national Aboriginal initiatives for National Parks and National Historic Sites in areas of treaty rights, consultation, ecological integrity, cultural integrity, traditional knowledge, heritage, archeology, tourism, and economic development. Mediated and negotiated on behalf of Parks Canada with Aboriginal organizations and other government departments in areas of cooperative management and planning, including consultation, funding, and partnership arrangements. Involved in business planning, and all managerial activities within the Atlantic Service Centre.National Aboriginal Working Group - Chair

Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of 3 National Parks (Ivvavik, Aulavik, Tuktut Nogait) and the Pingo Canadian Landmark in the Western Arctic. Ensuring operations meet obligations set out in the Inuvaluit Final Agreement, the Sahtu Dene and Métis Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement, and other applicable legislation. Oversaw strategic planning and business plan develop and delivery. Responsible for negotiating, developing and maintaining partnerships with other governments and stakeholders whose mandates affect federal lands, ecological resources (including wildlife), cultural resources, and socio-economic programming. Represented the Agency on cooperative management boards, advisory boards and multi-sector initiatives in the Western Arctic. Responsible for the financial sustainability of the Field Unit, and the health and well-being of all employees and visitors. Represented the Western Arctic at the Senior Manager’s Committee within the Agency.

Responsible for the creating and maintaining a Mi’kmaq fishery science program for 9 Mi’kmaw First Nation communities. This includes development of research partnerships with academia and government, securing research and program funding for environmental and fishery priorities, providing scientific advice and guidance to Mi’kmaw leadership and community members, mentoring and coaching Mi’kmaw and Aboriginal youth, collecting and managing ATK, responding to federal requests regarding species-at-risk, issuing contracts, and hiring staff.

Hydrographer-In-Charge of field surveys including project management, data collection, data processing, data management, quality assurance and quality control. Assumed all management duties including planning, budgeting, staffing, public relations, and other related tasks. Responsible for numerous ocean and coastal mapping projects including a multi-year research partnership with the Unama’ki Institute of Natural Resources.
