I set up Power Business Services when I wanted to create a portfolio career of non-Executive directorships and consulting.

In this role I was responsible for heading up the Fund Administration team for global Apax Funds with a focus on building a resilient and robust team and enhancing processes across the business. The role is responsible for ensuring delivery of fund administration services while enhancing existing processes and developing the team. Highlights in the period included:Getting to grips with new industry and business (after intensive 12-month development plan) and applying newly acquired knowledge to ensure delivery across corporate services (Tax reporting, including FATCA/CRS, payments, meeting legal and regulatory requirements) and LP services teams (client service innovation and onboarding, data management). Acting as point of escalation on more challenging/technical issues such as fund closes.Restructuring the team, identifying skill gaps, recruiting appropriate skills and introducing skills matrix and people development initiatives.Introducing new approach to process management across Guernsey and London teams, e.g. introducing Signavio tool to map processes, lead sessions on how to refine these processes and implementing new/amended processes.

In this role I was responsible for spearheading change management and actively rolling out key business programmes into the global finance operations to bring the finance strategy to life.Leading the Target Operating Model work stream to establish how Finance works globally to achieve the Finance 2020 vision.Setting policies to drive the management and delivery of change, including programme management of key business projects to deliver Finance strategy.Change leader for Oracle Finance implementation globally, assessing change readiness and engaging key stakeholders.

This secondment to another function enabled me to learn another discipline, be more actively involved in the people initiatives that I was interested in as a functional leader and also to bring some of my curiosity to ways of working to HR. Responsibilities in the role included:Strategic and tactical assistance to business partners enabling them to meet their business and resource objectivesPromote the change agenda for business transformationFacilitate strategic discussions at global leadership level

In this role I was responsible for the effective delivery of loans, investments and distributions. This included ensuring that the loan book for UK/ROI and Netherlands is managed effectively and that our partners received a comprehensive service. The role also involves formulating and implementing strategies to improve the financial position of poor performing stores.

During my time in this role I 1.Developed the team responsible for all aspects of direct tax compliance in UK, Guernsey, Ireland and Netherlands, by implementing Value stream mapping tools to significantly streamline the processes and introduce controls. Also developed a technical team to ensure all technical issues are considered and any relevant changes in legislation are reflected in our procedures.2. Successfully executed the Tax Group Audit for five years3. Delivered with the Director of Tax and Treasury the Groups tax strategy and policies globally. .4. Overhauled the team which deals with distributions and investments for stores and supply chain entities (over 1,500 Partners). Moving it to a fully automated process.5. Significantly improved the profile of the team with the Partners by formulating a Partnership Charter and implementing it over the past 3 years. Feedback from Partner survey consistently improving and members of the team have been awarded customer first awards from the Board.6. Worked with CFO and steering groups to develop our strategy for professional and individual development and leading employee survey work.

During my time in this role I 1.Developed from assistant manager to Group manager role with responsibility for recruitment, training, financials and general support to a team of 21 people.2.Fulfilled a Business development role which involved realising client opportunities from Channel Islands tax reform.3.Serviced middle market clients with entities in Jersey, Guernsey, IOM and UK. This included managing the tax compliance process and providing tax consultancy services.4.Managed the Global relationship for our larger revenue producing clients. As well as providing local consultancy services I was also responsible for project managing the global services.5.Coaching junior staff and assisting in running program to promote change in manager culture.6. Recruitment of graduate and qualified individuals for the tax team, including responsibility for induction program for new joiners.
