Design coil tubing and snubbing jack equipment for the oil and gas industry.    I am most often the lead engineer on projects that I work on and they are commonly for multi-million dollar sales orders.  Equipment is manufactured onsite, allowing me to be a part of the entire build and testing process. My position also includes being the engineering specialist for several product lines that differ from our more common products.  My ability to quickly evaluate existing designs and offer assistance in troubleshooting problems has led to my support in some capacity to most all of the products we market.  This support includes manufacturing based redesign, evaluating failures occurring in established products, modifying equipment for operation outside of the original design intent, supporting legacy equipment that has little documentation to help support refurbish or re-purpose, and updating existing equipment to adhere to DNV, API, or other standards.

Design, support, and troubleshoot coil tubing equipment. This often included new builds of Legacy designs that had new requirements. During busy years, new equipment would be designed and built at a frantic pace and still need to be constantly improving both quality and costs to keep customers happy. During market downturns, focus would turn to efficiency and improvements on existing products and procedures that would allow us to be among the 1st to benefit from market recovery. Staying with the company thru some of the best and worst years of the oil industry since 2010 allowed for irreplaceable personal growth and learning.

Providing a wide range of Engineering related services. Everything from complex design packages of custom equipment to drafting existing designs for manufacture. Intentional Designs LLC uses SolidWorks for all drafting, 3D modeling, and stress analysis. I am here to support a wide range of customers. Large companies with their own engineering department can contract out engineering work to absorb temporary spikes in work. Individuals can have small parts drawn up for manufacture and use around the home. Tinkerers can bring me in to support an idea for a patent.

The main focus at Gearhart was completing the design of the Measure While Drilling (MWD) down-hole tool. Being a small company, I would take on many roles. In addition to design work, it was also required to be QC, Testing, Purchasing, and Drafting. All of these roles magnified in the several months before my departure as I was the last Mechanical Engineer on staff when we parted ways due to the downturn seen at the end of 2008.
