Responsible for all developments on IT systems that support ABN AMRO's data quality and data analytics efforts. The DQ&A unit consists of 30+ multidisciplinary, distributed scrum teams and currently counts >150 Data Engineers, Developers and Analysts. Recently, ABN AMRO's central Data Science team is integrated in the DQ&A unit to leverage the expertise of Data Scientists in building a bank wide Advanced Analytics platform. The DQ&A team is responsible for enabling ABN AMRO's ambition to generate true value out of data. All capabilities to enable this ambition are organised under DQ&A. We ensure the quality of data and usage of right reference data by building an Enterprise DQ platform with the full Informatica suite. (IDQ, MDM, Axon). To distribute data, we are transforming from a traditional, data ware house oriented, architecture to the concept of a Digital Integration & Access Layer, which we open source via https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6369360922145804288. This includes the batch pattern (Raw Data store on on premise Hadoop, and in the public cloud of Azure and AWS), the pub/sub pattern (Kafka/Kinesis) and the Request Response pattern, which we facilitate via an internal ESB and API gateway (IIB and Apigee). Once you have the data, you want the data to work for you. DQ&A is building in house and off premise (Azure and potentially AWS) Big Data Management platforms, that are both robust in terms of data management and governance as well as flexible to give the data scientists maximum autonomy in working with the data.

At ABN AMRO, we recognize the value of data and the need to integrate data and IT systems in a structured and sustainable way, to speed up our IT Delivery and unlock new business value. As head of Data and Integration Technology, I am responsible for deploying a new and future proof data landscape within ABN AMRO, that puts data to use, using the latest techniques like Hadoop, NoSQL, Kafka, etc., and migrate our existing Datawarehouses to the new architecture. Besides the data itself, the tools (Informatica Data Quality and MDM) to manage Data Quality and Master Data Management are implemented by my team. By doing this, ABN AMRO is assured that the data objects and definitions are consistent and constantly up to date to prevent operational waist and financial losses. Finally D&IT is responsible for the implementation of the Integration Architecture within ABN AMRO, by putting enterprise services and service operations on IBM's IIB10 by which the commonly used business functions, data and information is streamlined via our Enterprise Service Bus.

Managing the IT changes within the ALM, Cost Accounting and Control subdomain which is part of ABN AMRO's IT Functions Solutions domain. As IT Change Manager, I am responsible for ensuring timely delivery of all projects that are executed within this functional area. The current change portfolio is mainly driven by regulating and supervisory authorities and initiatives (Basel II,III, IFRS, DNB, ECB, AQR) and the mission of the Finance, ALM and Risk departments of ABN AMRO to continuously improve their operational processes and streamline data and information. Our projects also support the AMA compliancy of ABN AMRO and the upcoming IPO of ABN AMRO Bank N.V.

ABN AMRO started a major IT transformation programma in 2013. The goals of this transformation are to radically improve the time to market and productivity of our IT delivery in an environment with continuous increasing regulations. Towards 2020 we will rationalize our application landscape, create a Service Oriented Architecture and benefit from the transition towards the (private) cloud. Together with an improved Target Operating Model and a completely renewed senior and middle management we will implement Agile/Scrum on the software development side and together with our infrastructure partners we will improve the agility by moving towards DevOPS. This transition will help us to deliver faster business functionalities, comply more easily with mandatory regulations and the total cost of our IT organization will decrease due to an increased productivity.As a senior IT strategist, I am overlooking the entire scope of this transition and advising the MT of Group IT/Group CIO on planning, cross program dependencies, roadmap, business case and organizational changes.

Heading a team of strategy and MI consultants that is advising and supporting the Management Team of ABN AMRO Operations in shaping a future proof organisation. Currently, back office organisations of banks need to become more flexible, agile and cost effective, while at the same time customer satisfaction needs to be further improved to restore client trust. The main levers that are contributing to those goals are further automation of manual processing, lean operations, rethinking sourcing strategies and redesigning organisation models towards more E2E structures.The main challenges for this type of organisations are an aging workforce, IT legacy, and further commoditization of transactional services, driven by economies of scale. Tolerance for errors is becoming narrower and clients demand a short time to market. My team is constantly looking for translating the challenges above into concrete solutions that are ready to be implemented in the organisation. As the rest of the organisation, my team is working according to the principles of Lean, making sure that we're delivering high quality management consultancy against optimal cost.
