This department head position will partner with City leadership team members to develop and progress toward strategic goals as well as guide the day-to-day operation of the Parks and Recreation Department. The scope of responsibility includes technical, administrative, and professional work related to the City’s parks and recreation, special events, community engagement, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). This position is responsible for recreation services, parks maintenance, the senior center, and the 21st Century Learning Grant (TEAM 21 Program). Leads and supervises Parks and Recreation Department staff; evaluates programs and analyzes capital needs. Works with the Parks and Recreation Commission, the City Manager’s Office, and the City Council to determine parks and recreation program priorities and needs and works with the area schools, to determine needs of the TEAM 21 Program.

Coordination and management of all volunteer for Community Outreach Week attracting over 1000 volunteers around the world.Coordinate and manage all volunteers for annual alumni Freshmen Move-In event.Plan, organize and facilitate annual All Alumni Golf Outing fundraiser. Coordinates all internal/external events for staff including, but not limited to: annual volunteer celebration, award dinners, special events, regional events and senior staff dinner events across the country.Responsible for hiring, supervising, scheduling, training and evaluating student staff.

Provides administrative support to the Alumni Relations office. Helps connect alums by putting them in touch with one another and helps alums get discounts through distribution of benefit card. Updates database when alumni update us with employment, birth or marriage updates. Alumni Briefs Coordinator, assist in preparation for events for Board of Directors and AP Staff Members, travel plans and arrangements for AP Staff. Prepares event communications, confirmations, recruitment, follow-ups, event giveaways, ticket distributions. Maintain and update event registrations and rsvp's, sends email reminders to attendees. Alumni Board liaison for four meetings per year, includes all preparation, and attendance at each of the four Saturday meetings. Also serves as the student staff liaison.
