During my tenure at RMB Stonehouse within the Maritime Liaison and Assessment Teams (MLAT), I engaged in a dynamic and multifaceted role that required exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and logistical capabilities. Collaborating within small, high-performing teams comprising up to five Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) and Officers, I was entrusted with responsibilities that demanded a high degree of professionalism and discretion.Key aspects of this role included liaising with senior military officials and Defence Attachés, fostering meaningful dialogue to support strategic objectives. This required not only adept communication skills but also the ability to navigate complex organisational hierarchies with cultural and political sensitivity. Additionally, I played a central role in planning and coordinating logistics for international engagements with partner force countries, ensuring seamless operations in support of NATO’s strategic goals.My responsibilities also encompassed cultivating and maintaining relationships with NATO partners within the Special Operations Force (SOF) community. This involved acting as a bridge between diverse national contingents, promoting interoperability and shared understanding through professional engagements. Observing and assessing NATO SOF exercises further honed my analytical skills, as I provided comprehensive evaluations to inform decision-making processes.I also contributed to strategic reporting by compiling detailed assessments and feeding insights directly back into brigade. This aspect of my role underscored the importance of precision and clarity in written communication, ensuring that my observations effectively supported operational and strategic planning. Together, these experiences reflect a profound commitment to advancing NATO’s mission through collaborative and analytical excellence.

During my time with the Royal Navy Leadership Academy, I played a key role in leadership development, team management, and risk mitigation, directly contributing to the growth and operational readiness of Royal Navy personnel.A significant part of my responsibilities involved designing and delivering tailored leadership training programs for Young Officers and Other Ranks. These programs combined theoretical instruction with practical application, focusing on critical leadership skills such as decision-making, effective communication, problem-solving and teamwork. By creating realistic scenarios that mirrored operational challenges, I prepared personnel to lead confidently and effectively in high-pressure situations.In addition to my instructional duties, I held an office manager role where I oversaw a team of 16 Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs). This required managing weekly training schedules, coordinating professional development opportunities, and providing oversight for daily responsibilities, including report writing, equipment maintenance, and risk assessments. My role demanded the ability to align team objectives with broader organisational goals, ensure accountability and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.I also led teams of up to 12 junior and senior ranks in high-risk outdoor activities such as caving, rock climbing, mountaineering, gorge walking, paddle sports and white-water rescue. These activities required meticulous planning, leadership, and risk management to ensure safety and operational success. Operating in physically and mentally demanding environments, I inspired cohesion and adaptability within teams, enabling them to perform effectively under challenging conditions.Through these experiences, I honed my expertise in leadership, team development, and operational planning, while contributing to the Academy’s mission of cultivating resilient, capable leaders.
