There were RACF responsibilities for the online CICS users although my primary concern was in controlling TSO users, such as myself. Would schedule ARCServe backups on the MS Windows NT servers, as well as, initiate backups on the VMS system plus perform cart drive maintenance.Eventually, the ES/9000 used tape silos and the common practice of pulling scratches was minimized but the reports were still printed and distributed through the laser printer. The abends were caught in CA-7 and many proc lib additions could be made to re-route the DASD usage and the proper backout/restart procedures used based upon the application and how the data was transferred, especially with secure transfers. Was able to help the programmers by converting their CICS regions to be Y2K compliant and to test their patches on a test CICS partition. This test partition could be IPL'd at any given time during these Y2K tests. Because more time was spent with online users, there was less batch interaction and control over DASD usage although there was a lot of activity creating and distributing confidential payroll reports and checks. After each production run stream, was able to prioritize the print jobs to create picking and shipping labels for print on the IBM line printers or to print the reports for distribution on the IBM laser printer. Although the old 4361 would be quiesced at the end of my shift, the 3090 brought 24/7 operations and the DASD backed up to the CART drives for offsite storage then a fresh IPL performed weekly.Printed and distributed reports and shipping labels on the IBM mainframe laser printer.Answered support calls pertaining to VTAM lines and the CDRM.
