The most important element of any single news broadcast is the content. Viewers deserve stories that are long on responsible journalism and short on hype. They deserve news that is factual, compelling, easy to understand, clearly written, informative and yes, sometimes even entertaining. Give viewers high-quality content and I believe you develop loyal customers. However, long-term gains are only achievable when staff hired to gather, report, produce and then present that content all follow the same formula. As much as this may sound like a cliché, a news operation really does need to run like a team. I would like to put my years of experience to work - continuing to present the news - while also helping to manage a TV newsroom.

Communications Manager - Wisconsin Dept. Of TransportationState Of Wisconsin Mar 2008 - Aug 2012Worked as the Communications Manager for the $1.5 billion US 41 Project in Northeast Wisconsin. The prolonged road construction project involved the expansion of 31 miles of freeway within the US 41 corridor in Brown and Winnebago counties over a period of nine years. Managed the development and execution of all communication tools and activities related to the project, while working closely with the Secretary’s Office, WisDOT’s Office of Public Affairs and the director of WisDOT’s NE Region Office. I hired and supervised a team of consultants to support our public relations/public involvement efforts and handled the budget for this work, estimated at approximately $1.75 million per year. I also lead the development of our project website and managed use of Facebook and Twitter to push various messages to help build project awareness.
