I am a very outgoing, caring and compassionate person. My first priority is my family. I have 3 grown children and 6 wonderful grandchildren. I had been a military wife for 20 years to an army nurse. I have completed all of my nursing education programs (RN,BSN, MSN, DNP) as an non-traditional student, as an adult learner. This gives me insight empathy with non-traditional learners in their academic endeavors. As my career path has progressed from floor nurse to academia, I am very passionate about integrity and quality of health care in the field of nursing education. I believe you should do what is right, correct, honest 100% of the time. Another trait about myself is that I like to be fully engaged 100% in what I do in all aspects of my life (I am not a 1/2 in 1/2 out person). I have lived in various places geographically and have encounter a variety of different cultures--which has given me a personal perspective to be open to change and an awareness of the world around me. I believe that we never stop learning and growing in our lives, we never "arrive" at knowing everything. I tell my students one glaring fact that I have acquired as I've continued through my educational process to this point where I have completed my DNP : that the more I learn--the more I realize how ignorant I am of so many things.
