Anglo American Group Technical - Head of Engineering Reviews - governance and optimization of operations and projects to improve safe profitable operations.Started of as a learner structural designer with Anglo American but moved on to Engineering Management soon after qualifying. I obtained Government Certificate of competence, GCC Mine and works, as Engineer in Mines and Works. Held resident engineer and engineering manager positions in mining and power generation industries for over twenty five years. Expanded my horizon in corporate engineering and project management first at Eskom and then at Anglo Platinum. Track record for being able to get things done whatever it takes. This track record was instrumental in me being given several account abilities of national importance, while employed at Eskom, obligations under intergovernmental MOU's and Elect Supply Industry restructuring. When Eskom was eventually given the go ahead to build new capacity, I was asked to be part of a team that put together the project management framework for mega projects to deliver new power stations. I was then appointed as the Head of Project Management Office, to oversee the planning, project development and delivery of new capacity for Generation Division. To accomplish this, I had to set up the office from scratch, including resourcing, technical requirements, and quality and project management. I left Eskom after the delivery of the two gas stations in the Cape, to take up an exciting project director role, which included responsibilities for operational issues at Anglo Platinum in Zimbabwe. This gave me some insightful, very challenging cross border Operational and Project Management expertise. After the success in Zimbabwe, which was one of those make it happen under severe conditions type project, I was offer the job as Head of Engineering at Anglo Platinum, which I took as another challenge.Specialties: General Management, Project Management and Engineering Management
