ViCentra is a medical device scale-up with its main product Kaleido (hellokaleido.com). It aims to serve insulin users with a best-in-class pump solution. The company has recently attracted additional financing, including from Invest-NL, a government-backed impact investor.

In this assignment as external consultant I am serving a former employer. I have a more senior role and assist in special projects and coordinate processes such as the year-end closing, statutory reporting for approx. 35 legal entities. International tax is also a significant part of the tasks.

End-responsible for all finance related matters in our EMEA service region (9 countries). I execute this responsibility with the help of a dedicated team of 5 local finance managers in the countries and a finance team based in NL (5 headcount). Typical topics we deal with range from:1) Improve the accounting of daily transactions;2) Prepare periodically reporting of financial figures in accordance with corporate requirements.3) Support efforts to increase financial KPI's (GM%, EBIT%);4) Assist in special projects (M&A, new accounting standards implementation, transfer pricing calculations)5) Manage and motivate the teamI daily enjoy the international aspect of this job and are regularly faced with opportunities to demonstrate my above-par analytical skills in this business environment.

I have a mixed role where (helped by Statoil's SSC) I perform daily accounting, periodically reporting for group and statutory purposes. Furthermore I ensure local compliance together with advisers based in the respective countries. On top of my own part of the portfolio I lead the audit of the financial statements (20 legal entities) and collaborate with auditors.In the period March 2015 up until June 2015 I have supported the F&C function of a pipeline venture based in Baku, Azerbaijan in a short term assignment abroad. This was an exciting opportunity with exposure to the business and external stakeholders. The project was finalized with a very positive outcome and my contribution to this outcome was widely recognized.

Taking day-to-day responsibilities in:1) Planning (plan resources, determine audit strategy);2) Performing the audit (test controls and carry out substantive tests, manage junior team members) and3) Completion (final analytics, report to others, draft annual accounts).The exact interpretation of my role as assistant manager varies with the size of the engagement. On smaller engagements I tend to be in-depth responsible for all of the above. Whereas with larger engagements the work is divided between several responsible team members. I also served clients based abroad in the US (Houston) and Monaco.
