At Outward Bound our goal is to unlock the potential in New Zealanders from all walks of life. From adults to young people in education or apprentices in the workplace, we aspire to show our participants what they are truly capable of achieving. To do so, we use the mountains, bush and waterways of the Marlborough Sounds as a catalyst for building character and cultivating life-long transferable skills. Through the challenge and adventure of an Outward Bound course, we’ve helped more than 55,000 Kiwis to push their boundaries, improve their resilience and ultimately, find their future direction. As a result, they return with increased confidence and more capability at home, at school or in the workplace. As a non-profit learning and development organisation, we rely on the generosity of our donors to ensure the Outward Bound experience remains accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstance. As the Community Development Partner, my role sees me working in partnership with schools, community groups, organisations and individuals to demonstrate how an Outward Bound course can meet their objectives.
