In my role as Project Engineer I am accountable for the delivery of a portfolio of large-value highway infrastructure projects. Projects include new facilities (greenfield projects, realignments, interchanges, dualling of roads), capacity improvements (adding lanes and shoulders) and special maintenance (rehabilitation, resurfacing etc.). My responsibility covers project management and technical oversight of consultancy and construction contracts across a full project life cycle (planning, design, procurement and construction). Technical oversight includes the highway engineering disciplines of geometric design, traffic engineering, structures, drainage, pavements, road safety and economic evaluation. Key Personal Responsibilities / Duties: - Project management & technical oversight with a focus on managing the design and construction process - Financial management of project portfolio, budgetary control, expenditure reporting, forecasting - Statutory applications – evaluating impacts to stormwater and access on the National Road network - Design review, options analysis, value engineering

I led the Capital Projects Branch which was an engineering business unit tasked with the delivery of a large portfolio of engineering infrastructure projects. I was accountable for setting the Branch's strategic direction and managing a team of technical staff (10 No. Civil Engineers) and administrative professionals. This included project management and technical oversight of professional services and construction contracts with facilitation across a full project life cycle.

Cape Town Area, South Africa

Planning, design and construction oversight of public transport infrastructure in Cape Town. This includes Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) infrastructure (busways, stations, stops, depots, NMT) and transport interchange facilities for Cape Town's flagship MyCiTi BRT mega-project.

I gained vast experience on a variety of projects at this consulting practice - full project life cycle experience of feasibility, planning, design and construction. Progressed from junior role to a professionalengineer - worked on roads, traffic & transportation, municipal and environmental projects.

Upon graduation I joined the CSIR, Transportek Division, where I worked on various road-related research projects. I gained experience on road safety, pedestrian safety, traffic calming, infrastructure management systems, labour-intensive road construction, and emerging-contractor development.
