• Generalized framework for open – world classification: This research aims at developing algorithmic framework that can identify and categorize data instances from unseen data set that belong to unknown classes. Developed a nearest class mean classifier in conjunction with Jensen – Shannon distance for identification and association rule mining based incremental learning algorithm for categorization of identified instances. This framework is agnostic to the type of data and classifier in use.• Machine learning enhanced COVID-19 propagation models for rural, semi-rural, and small urban regions: The objective of this research is to enhance COVID-19 disease predictive modeling, using machine learning and various streams of COVID-19 related data to make early warnings to medical service providers. Applied various deep learning techniques such as 1D CNN and RNN based models on time series data to predict essential information such confirmed cases, deaths, recovered cases. Furthermore, analyzed the different demographic and socio-economic factors contributing to the widespread of the disease.• Identifying Actionable Tweets Posted During Disasters: This project aims at building a model that classifies disaster-related tweets into various actionable categories. Various deep learning models such as LSTM, BI-LSTM with attention mechanism in tandem with GloVe and ELMo based word embeddings were trained to classify the tweets.• Multi-objective optimization model for building retrofit strategies applied on Joplin, Missouri data: Performed ETL based data integration tasks to blend data from multiple data sources. Cleaned, merged and transformed the available raw data to facilitate modeling.
