• Worked as devops engineer designing infrastructure and build automation for the 2020 Decennial census for the U. S. Census Bureau.• Infrastructure architecture and design for Primus ISR, the Internet Self Response application for the 2020 decennial Census. Innovations included Zero Downtime Deployments and Immutable infrastructure. Components of Primus were migrated to lambda by building RDKafka and its native prerequisites(Kerberos, OpenSSL) for Amazon’s AMIs and black-box testing, allowing lambda to use native libraries to communicate with Kafka clusters.• Initial architecture and design for MOJO RO (Route optimizer)• Worked on an IRAD (Internal R&D) project for the AIOps effort integrating and automating third party tools• Worked on the London MPS (Metropolitan Police Service) project to deliver a next generation product to co-ordinate emergency responses and planning

• Worked on GSA’s Business Service Platform (BSP), a Platform As A Service (PaaS) offering critical to GSA’s digital transformation and cloud migration strategy as a DevOps developer and engineer.• Developed components of BSP using Ansible and Groovy to automate Jenkins, Ansible Tower, Netscaler, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) components including EC2, IAM, RDS, ELB, ASG, Cloud Formation, S3 and Route53.• Architected and reengineered modular components including JBoss 6.4, Apache 2.4, MongoDB 3.0, Splunk and other support components. These customizable components allowed the migration of multiple tenants to the BSP using only their software packages and variables that configured their n-tier stacks.• Worked at DHS USCIS on the ELIS2 application as an Enterprise Java developer and tech lead.

• Helped create a companywide Git implementation (SAMI-GIT) using Gitlab Community Edition to replace the companywide SVN solution (noted as a key 2015 accomplishment by Central Technology). Created a logging cluster using ElasticSearch and FluentD, as well as visualizations in Kibana, secured with NGINX to provide easy log analysis for support personnel. Over 5 months added over 3000 users and 4900 projects, seeing 1700 pushes per day.• Worked with the Platform group’s architects as part of the ‘Open the Platform’ initiative to foster greater use of open source software within the group, as well as promote reusability of existing software suites through internal collaboration between developers across Thomson Reuters.

• Migrated a third-party SVN (Subversion) solution to a centralized internal solution (SAMI-SVN) by rewriting our existing self service frontend for Financial and Risk SVN, overseeing buildout of environments in global datacenters in London and Geneva, and migration of over 6,000 developers located around the globe as well as over 1000 SVN repositories spanning 2 terabytes of data in under a year. Performed technical work on multiple levels, including network troubleshooting, .Net development, ASP.Net development, SQL Server security and setup, Apache setup, packaging and security, ViewVC integration, antivirus tuning, Tivoli Storage Manager administration, and Windows and Windows cluster administration. In addition, created a central FTPS server with 10TB of capacity for collaboration between developers across the then-newly formed corporation (Thomson Reuters). Received more than 150,000 revisions per month from 2013 to 2015, with a 6-year growth to 3800 repositories totaling over 4 TB.• Expanded build environment to include Lynx (Thomson Reuters’ next-generation news reporting, and editing software) as well as Eikon (next-generation financial software that replaced Reuters 3000 Xtra desktop). Total builds reached over 900 by Q4 2015.• Collaborated globally with dozens of groups from New York, London, Paris, Bangalore and Bangkok working on subsections of Eikon to formalize standards surrounding versioning, application life cycle, build standards, and packaging.• Consulted as the representative for Development in talks between Information Security and Veracode on their then-future API offering. Some design suggestions, including upload and reporting formats, appear in the final product. • Wrote .Net software to interface our build environment with Nolio, allowing Eikon to perform automated deployments.• Assisted in the migration of the Cruisecontrol.Net build environment to Jenkins, adding Sonarqube support and expanding build offerings to include Java.

• Joined a Release Engineering group spun off from Application support to help transition Thomson Advisor into Thomson ONE Advisor, and applied the lessons learned about the development cycle to transform the deployment process. Used InstallShield to create MSIs (Windows Installer) to automate deployments• Helped create a VmWare ESX based VM build environment using Cruisecontrol.Net. Builds used MSBuild or NAnt, and templatized scripts that allowed the rapid creation of new builds with minimal support staff. • Helped create a centralized SVN offering for Financial and Risk that involved an ASP frontend and SQL Server backend that allowed users to self-administer their SVN repositories (change/add permissions and create new repositories).• Invented and innovated a combination of methodologies and a custom-written tool in C# that leveraged WiX (Windows Installer Xml) to generate full-featured MSIs from builds that supported all Wix features with little to no human intervention. This innovation cut packaging and deployment time to a fraction of previous levels and freed up development resources. • Worked on custom actions in VBscript and Visual C++ that performed tasks like certificate installations and customization of installations on a per-machine or per-environment basis by supplying an XML file as input to the install process. • Helped design an end to end build solution that generated MSTest, Code Coverage and FXcop reports as well ready-to-use MSIs that could set up an entire server application in one installer. This innovation allowed us to reach the maximum capacity of our build environment of 250 VMs in less than a year with very low overhead.

• Planning for systems, coordinating across the stack, and reconciling efforts with personnel in network and datacenter operations, developers, and architects. • Supported the operations of Thomson Advisor, a wealth management product. • Supported the operations of an ‘all-in-one’ financial solution called Thomson One, which brought multiple products under one offering.

• Debugged existing C CGI code (FastCGI) and assisted in transitional activities after the purchase of Primark.• Helped Design and implemented a Syndication/Rendering Engine, a sort of ‘Website Wizard’ for financial applications, using Java (in a BEA Weblogic 6.0 cluster) and XML feeds in conjunction with stored XSL documents. Created a toolset for easy modification by developers, allowing new customer and product combinations to be created in less than a day (from 3 to 7 weeks for bespoke websites). Migrated deprecated VB/ASP applications to the Syndication Engine.• Ported the Syndication Engine and the tool to .Net RC2 for use by the Investor Relations group which allowed the team to rapidly port hundreds of customers to the new solution.• Leveraged experience to help create a Business Application Support group in the Rockville office.

• Administrator for the Primark corporate and Primark Financial Information Division websites. Responsibilities included daily updates, press releases, design, and development of the sites. • Created a data feed mechanism using XML over HTTP, a then-primitive form of SOAP. • Created the CNBC SEC filings page (www.cnbc.primark.com).• Performed as the lead on ASP work for the Global E-commerce Group. Wrote a script library to format XML data for the front-end team. • Worked on a COM-based charting tool using the GDChart library.

• Converted several server-based UNIX applications (CGI, Perl) to client-server applications using Visual Basic and C++. Worked on a Y2K initiative within the accounting department.• Technical Lead on the development of several reporting applications for the marketing and accounting departments using Visual Basic, Visual C++, and Seagate Crystal Reports. • Created an internal server using Microsoft Personal Web Server to allow self service installation of applications over the intranet, saving time over the previous method that used 12 or more floppies and required multiple support staff to install software individually.• Helped in recovering $15.2 million for Accounts Receivable by performing Age Analysis for the collections agent and using mail merge to generate collection letters.

• Performed sales demonstrations for 3D Studio MAX v3.• Taught several classes on beginning and intermediate computer animation. Worked on 3DSMax Plugins (Windows DLLs) for DirectX export and Blob modeling. Used Visual C++ and 3DSMAX SDK; Discreet 3D Studio MAX, Paint, and Effect; and Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects.

• Responsible for initial design and implementation of the Judicial Programs Office website. Worked on streaming media solutions and a VRML walkthrough. Wrote a scrolling banner applet for news flashes. Used Photoshop; Java, HTML, Javascript, & VRML; and Real Media & QuickTime VR.

• Wrote 16- and 32-bit Visual Basic 4 applications to print labels and keep track of customer orders. • Helped create a network-attached storage solution that involved daisy chaining of then-prototype Pioneer 100-bay CD-ROM tower disk changers for the LaserD product.

Worked with the LANDSAT Pathfinder Project at the University of Maryland. Projects included digitization and analysis of rainforest satellite photos, using ARCinfo and Solaris as well as C/C++ and Shell scripting (tcsh).
