The GEN1ntern Program is an opportunity for first-generation Allen School students to gain leadership skills and contribute to the first-gen and CSE communities. The GEN1nternship will be a year-long commitment (October 2024 - June 2025), which includes supporting events and connecting with peers during Fall and Winter terms, in addition to shadowing executive officers during Spring term.

Husky Marching Band (HMB) members plays a vital role in representing the University of Washington, both on and off the field. As part of a 270-member ensemble, band members perform using the traditional chair-step and toe-point style of marching, supporting the university's athletic teams throughout the year. While the primary responsibility is performing at home football games, select members also have the opportunity to travel to away games and support other sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, and Gymnastics. In addition to sports, HMB members contribute to the university's outreach by participating in community events, professional sporting occasions, and charitable appearances. Events like the Seafair Torchlight Parade and performances for local businesses demonstrate their role as ambassadors for the University of Washington. As dedicated performers, HMB members uphold the tradition, precision, and spirit that define the ensemble, fostering a strong connection between the university and its surrounding community.

A Youth Council Advisor plays a crucial role in guiding a group of 13 to 17-year-olds (8th-10th graders) as they explore leadership, mentoring, and service opportunities. The advisor provides support and mentorship to Youth Council members, helping them develop their leadership skills and fulfill their responsibilities both within the council and during events such as Camp Bharat. By offering guidance in project planning, conflict resolution, and effective communication, the advisor ensures that the Youth Council operates smoothly while fostering an environment that encourages personal growth and community engagement. Members are led through community service projects, such as organizing small business fairs, coordinating charity drives, and participating in local environmental cleanups. These projects offer participants hands-on experience in project management, teamwork, and communication, while also encouraging a sense of civic responsibility. Additionally, the advisor helps members track their volunteer hours for school and college applications, ensuring they receive appropriate credit for their service. Overall, the advisor serves as a mentor, leader, and resource, empowering young participants to succeed in their roles and contribute meaningfully to their community.

As a Youth Council Lead, the focus was on nurturing future leaders through practical engagement. Responsibilities included guiding 80 young participants in planning and executing community service projects like small business fairs. This involved providing mentorship on project management, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Through these activities, participants gained valuable hands-on experience and were empowered to become active and responsible members of their communities.

This leadership role played a critical role in providing a diverse and enriching cultural experience for a large group of participants. Responsibilities included collaborating with board members to develop a comprehensive camp program focused on introducing American children to the Indian heritage, including activities such as Holi, Garba, Indian Sports, and more. This involved creating a detailed schedule of activities, securing necessary resources, managing budgets to ensure efficient use of funds, and coordinating with a team of staff to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all 200+ participants.

The band captain leads the Band and Band Council in both planned and unplanned events, ensuring the band's spirit remains high. Responsibilities include coaching marching fundamentals for freshmen, resolving intraband conflicts, and demonstrating musical versatility by while playing their own instrument during performances. Some such performances include football halftime shows, concerts, and even a notable performance at Disneyland.

As Secretary, this role involves close collaboration with the president and advisors to assess and drive progress toward organizational goals. Responsibilities include ensuring continuity and effective leadership. The Secretary manages club communications, including email correspondence with members, and organizes and maintains all club files and resources. Additionally, they keep accurate records of meeting minutes and student attendance, contributing to the smooth operation and success of the club. A proactive approach and attention to detail are essential in fostering a collaborative and efficient environment.

Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, this program trains mentors from your junior and senior classes to be Link Crew Leaders. As positive role models, Link Crew Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school and help facilitate freshman success.

As a Senior Officer of the Ping Pong Club, responsibilities included promoting the establishment of the club, cultivating relationships with other schools, and ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for members interested in both competitive play and recreational activities. Engagement with club members focused on fostering creativity and community enrichment through attentive listening, collaboration, and active participation in the sport of ping pong.

As President of the Woodinville High School Robotics Club, the role involved developing team organization skills with a strong emphasis on fostering diversity and inclusivity. Initiatives included establishing and supporting an all-women robotics team and significantly expanding club membership through targeted recruitment efforts. Ensured team readiness for competitions while cultivating a culture of excellence and inclusiveness within the club.

The Programming Lead is responsible for overseeing the programming department, ensuring seamless coordination and collaboration with other departments. While the engineering functions are divided into various departments, the programming side operates as a single department. The Programming Lead should not only be proficient in programming but also excel at effective communication, delegating tasks to team members, and ensuring that they are completed prior to the robot’s hardware being completely functional. If a member of the department isn’t meeting standards, then the Programming Lead will set up a one-on-one meeting to discuss the situation. The lead’s primary responsibility is to provide guidance and supervision to the programming department, while also maintaining regular communication with other departments to ensure a cohesive and successful project outcome.

The Connections Lead is responsible for establishing and maintaining valuable connections with external entities, such as companies, organizations, and potential sponsors. Their role is crucial in securing grants, sponsorships, and partnerships that support the financial and resource needs of the team. They will actively seek out and engage with businesses and community leaders to build relationships, promote the team's goals and achievements, and explore collaboration opportunities. By effectively networking and advocating for the team, they will contribute to its long-term sustainability financially and contribute to building up the team’s outreach for the season.

Captains assume a role as the face of the team. They are expected to represent their team at events such as assemblies and meetings with important organizations. Furthermore, captains are entrusted with the responsibility of making critical decisions that impact the team's direction and success. They will work closely with their team members to coordinate activities and ensure that everyone is aligned with the team's goals. Captains must effectively communicate important updates, announcements, and any changes in expectations. Their role extends beyond decision-making and communication; captains are instrumental in fostering team cohesion, nurturing a positive and collaborative environment, and promoting unity among team members. They must understand the value of effective teamwork and actively work towards resolving conflicts and maintaining open and transparent communication channels within the team. Captains strive to lead by example, exhibiting strong leadership qualities and inspiring their team members to perform at their best level.

Managed and moderated the FTC Washington Discord server, overseeing a dynamic community of over 300 members. Facilitated discussions, provided assistance, and maintained a welcoming atmosphere conducive to learning and collaboration among FTC participants. Implemented and enforced server guidelines to ensure respectful communication and positive interactions. Actively engaged with members to address concerns, promote activities, and foster a sense of community spirit and camaraderie.

The lead for an FTC team is a multifaceted role encompassing coordination, management, and communication. Responsible for overseeing team activities and operations, the lead plays a crucial role in organizing meetings, setting goals, assigning tasks, and ensuring effective communication within the team. Additionally, the lead provides direction and support to team members, cultivating a positive team culture while striving for excellence in robotics and competition.

The Co-Lead Programmer, working alongside another programmer, plays a critical role in developing the FIRST Tech Challenge robot's control system, the software brain behind its competitive performance. While other team departments handle the robot's physical construction, the Co-Lead Programmer focuses solely on the software side, ensuring seamless integration with the built hardware. Their expertise lies in translating complex robot control logic into efficient Java code that guarantees reliable command execution during competition. Beyond code, the Co-Lead Programmer leverages motion profiling to optimize robot movement for speed and accuracy, ensuring efficient task completion within competition time limits. Drawing on their understanding of control theory, they implement robust algorithms for precise motor control and seamless sensor feedback integration, enabling real-time adjustments for optimal performance. While the programming department functions as a single unit, the Co-Lead Programmer fosters collaboration with other team members. They effectively communicate programming progress to ensure hardware design aligns with software needs, leading to a cohesive final product. Problem-solving skills are also crucial, as the Co-Lead Programmer troubleshoots code issues, collaborates with the build team to address software-hardware integration challenges, and adapts code to account for rule changes or unexpected competition scenarios.

The National Society of High School Scholars recognizes top academic performers nationwide. Membership requires exceeding a minimum benchmark, which can be achieved through a GPA of 3.5 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), a score of 1280 or higher on the SAT, 1150 or higher on the PSAT, 26 or higher on the ACT, a score of 4 or higher on any AP exam, a combined IB test score of 36 or higher, an IGCSE Grade A or higher, or ranking within the top 10% of your class. Having surpassed these requirements, I'm proud to be recognized as an Honors Member. Furthermore, I actively participate in the NSHSS community, leveraging resources and programs designed to support high-achieving students, like scholarship opportunities, college visits, and chances to talk with professionals.

Contributed actively as a member of the National Honor Society, participating in the organization of various community events. Key initiatives included leading fundraising efforts that generated $1.3k for Puget Sound health initiatives and coordinating the preparation of 120 meals for the homeless. This internship focused on applying technical skills to enhance machine safety. Responsibilities included learning and implementing cloud computing protocols (e.g., MQTT with AWS) to gather real-time data from machines. This data was then leveraged to prototype firmware on microcontrollers, designed to monitor device health and ensure safety in industrial settings. The role also fostered effective communication through presentations at weekly meetings, where research and progress on the safety prototype were shared. This proactive approach culminated in the prototype garnering significant interest at a prominent industry event, such as the Hannover Messe trade show, demonstrating the potential impact of the developed safety solution.

This leadership role focused on empowering young people to advocate for environmental issues. Responsibilities included utilizing social media platforms to raise awareness about climate change and other environmental concerns.
