I'm a materials and process scientist at FET, where I get involved in all things fibre spinning! my main focus is on enabling gel spinning on a more agile scale and improving the sustainability of various spinning and fibre processes. In a previous life, I was a PDRA at the University of Manchester, working on plastic recycling and anything polymer sustainability related. In my personal time, I still have a passion for plastics sustainability and mitigating environmental impacts, and I try to help/teach/advise/inform on this subject at every opportunity!During my PhD, I worked on dispersion polymerisations in supercritical carbon dioxide at the University of Nottingham in collaboration with Kaneka. A deep level knowledge of polymer chemistry and physics has supported me throughout my career so far, and it remains my main driver in pursuing scientific knowledge.I was born in Denmark, but grew up in Belgium, I'm native in Danish, Dutch, and English, and I can get by in German and French in a pinch.

To achieve this, The University of Manchester has brought together a cross-sector consortium of 17 industry partners and local authorities to help solve three key challenges in the plastics life cycle; improving methods of chemical and mechanical recycling; developing business models to derive value from reused plastic for industry; and understanding consumer practices that lead to enhanced recycling compliance.
