• Council rep on Games Communication Group – cross-partner body with strategic responsibility for PR issues during the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games• For the duration of preparations for Birmingham 2022, led on media matters related to the city council’s status as Proud Host City (including the £700m+ Perry Barr Regeneration Scheme, the council’s corporate “Be Bold” campaign – and the realisation of the Games legacy). The council’s Host City Partnership was named winner in the Best Public/Private Partnership category at the LGC Awards 2023• Attended the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games to activate the Birmingham 2022 brand on behalf of the Commonwealth Games Federation, the 2022 Organising Committee and the city council• Delivered media, PR and communications aspects of bid campaign that saw Birmingham win the right to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games• Led on communications for the Mobile Household Recycling Centre service (recipient of LARAC and National Recycling Awards honours in 2022, with a 32 per cent reduction in fly-tipping reports, year on year)• Oversaw marketing for chargeable garden waste recycling service since its inception in 2015. Subscriber growth of 25 per cent in seven years (up to 74,000), generating income of £3.4million in 2022 (up 79.7 per cent since year one)• Tactical lead for council communications activity during COVID-19 pandemic• Part of communications response to the cost of living crisis, leading within an “Information and Guidance” workstream. Focus on advising vulnerable residents on how the council could help them maximise their income• Worked with Cabinet Members and senior officers to advise on and shape communications related to corporate priorities, having covered a range of subjects from refuse collection to finance to community cohesion• Responsible for directly managing two employees
