I am currently the Brand and Communications Manager for a well-known, international nonprofit that services youth experiencing homelessness. I get to meet them, interview them, tell their stories, team do, too, making sure young people are always the authors and heroes of their own stories through our writing and through our content creation. I manage social media and website content, and all sorts of other creations. I am an alumna of The University of New Orleans with a Master of Arts in Teaching with a Curriculum and Instruction concentration for grades 6-12. I have almost a decade of teaching experience and also served as a mentor teacher, coaching other instructors on best practices in the secondary ELA classroom. I have demonstrated academic growth among scholars, with roughly 75% of my students scoring proficient or higher on standardized testing in the 2020-2021 school year, amid a global pandemic. I am also an Associated Press award-winning journalist, utilizing my bachelors degree in Mass Communications and Journalism from Loyola University New Orleans. I worked as a Staff Writer for the Courier and Daily Comet newspapers Halifax Media where I gained experience in print journalism, broadcast news production, public relations, marketing, event planning and more.
