In the past 10 years there has been a considerable increase in renewable energy production, in combination with a rising electricity demand. More appliances are electrified (e.g. electric vehicles, boilers, heat pumps) while distributed energy resources (DER) are increasingly integrated into the low voltage electricity grid. Naturally, this can cause problems like over- or undervoltage in the grid. One of the possible ways to mitigate these problems is performing demand side management (DSM), where the consumer load can be scheduled in a flexible way to avoid the high consumption peaks.I'm researching the possibilities of demand side management and the impact on the net, both from a simulation and practical point of view.
