What forms of intimacy take place in the city? How can poetry replace efficiency? Our everyday movements through the urban environment seem to allow for intense possibilities of exchange and interpenetration. In certain zones, economies of desire replace the economy of efficiency. What does it look like in these places?Founded in 2001 by Krista Connerly, urbanintimacy.org is both a project space and research initiative that responds to these questions. Urbanintimacy.org highlights projects by artists and thinkers who address issues of urban life and its effects on our psyches and our relationships. As a collaborative research initiative, urbanintimacy.org has instigated many projects that seek to replace rationality with sensuality, and isolation with relationship. Collaborators

Taught classes in interactive design, Processes (creative problem solving and basic semiotics), Collaborative Processes (working collaboratively and effective team-building) , Intro to Design, and Senior Thesis.

Introduced a brand new digital media program, including tracts in physical computing, video, and interactive design. Reconfigured and ran the photography program to creatively deal with the changes happening in photo field and to bring a theoretical element to the program. Brought in artists/designers to teach classes and/or work with residents; people like David Hilliard, Camille Utterback, Joshua Davis, Future Farmers, Jim Campbell, Ben Fry, Nikolai Cornell, Deborah Bright, Kelli Connel etc. Had a great time - met terrific students all doing fascinating things. Had the chance to work with some wonderful people.

I worked with Akiko Busch and Steven Langhaugh on an exhibition about design for sports which examined "both the equipment, showing how sports are changing as a result of advancements in design and materials; as well as the cultural implications of sports design through an investigation of advertising and popular culture".

October is a quarterly journal specializing in contemporary art, criticism, and theory, published by the MIT Press.In this position I assisted with layout, and production and did image research. I also prepped the archives for their sale to the Getty.
