My dissertation consisted of developing a new simulation code to model stellar halos with Jeremy Bailin, PhD. I had two undergraduate students who assisted me on my project.

- Designed and constructed an enclosure for testing unit telescope mirror coatings using SolidWorks, then implemented an automation program using LabView to sync up with live weather forecasts to decide when to expose the coatings to environmental conditions.- Designed and installed a section of the Fringe Tracker Automated Alignment System which takes tilt and shear measurements to correct alignment.- Designed, in Zemax, part of the optical system for the Automated Alignment System that will align the interferometer. (specifically the Unit Telescopes to the Fringe Tracker)- Evaluated and tested hardware for the interferometer project including modulators, actuators, strain gauges, IR cameras, and Nanomotion slides.
