I am passionate about applying evidence-based methods to understand and improve human health and well-being. I am a behavioral science researcher with over 30 years’ experience conducting independent and collaborative research in university and academic medical center settings. My work has been supported by over $10 million in external funds and I have published 125+ papers and given 75+ invited talks and conference presentations.I am an expert in study design and project management, development and implementation of research tools, and data analysis and interpretation. I have experience in secondary analysis of epidemiological samples, collecting experimental and observational data, survey development, and designing clinical trials. I have a proven track record of translating individual interests and mission goals into research questions and working to design and implement projects that use data-driven solutions to meet needs. I enjoy working with various stakeholders to develop and promote research and have strong written and oral communication skills.My primary expertise is youth socioemotional development, substance use, and behavior problems. My interdisciplinary background has led to successful management of projects in behavioral genetics, human-animal interactions, trauma and brain development, and health disparities. I have been a key collaborator in studies of cognitive and physical aging, burnout and compassion fatigue, and clinical sciences, among others.I thrive in collaborative, supportive environments where diverse perspectives are considered when developing program priorities and activities. I am skilled at relationship-building and have mentorship experience across multiple levels. I am a strong critical thinker and have strategic planning experience from both my academic work and my volunteer work in scientific and other non-profit organizations. I have played an active leadership role in numerous institutional, local, national, and international activities and served as expert reviewer for 50+ federal grant review panels. I am self-motivated, independent, and goal-oriented and have strong time-management and organizational skills. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my beloved pets. My hobbies include cooking and baking and various forms of arts and crafts. I am passionate about art, architecture, and design, and always visit museums when traveling. I am also a fan of the performing arts, especially musicals, plays, and dance.
