Teach ENG 101 as part of the First Year Experience for freshmen at CUA. Use selected texts to develop students’ close reading, critical thinking, and analytical capabilities, and teach expository patterns and argument construction. The class culminates in a research project. In past years, I have taught 6 sections of standard ENG101 and 2 sections of ENG101 Honors. This semester I am again teaching 2 sections of ENG 101 Honors. Taught 2 sections of ENG 326/526 (the undergraduate/graduate writing improvement workshop) in the Fall of 2013. Covered topics including rhetoric, professional writing, creative writing, and literary analysis with each section geared toward the specific needs of each group of students. Assignments ranged from writing and publishing a blog on Wordpress, to writing a short story, to writing and presenting a researched argument.

Managed, maintained and updated GSA communications and advertising campaigns, including advertising for the GSA's largest yearly event, Crabfest, which saw a 35% increase in attendance. Technical involvement included website design and maintenance and graphic design. Managed the public relations budget and coordinated expenditures with various department liaisons and the GSA Event and Conference Directors according to GSA guidelines. As a member of the GSA Executive Committee assisted with the review and approval of campus speakers across the departments. Also served as the GSA Representative to the Student Life Committee of the CUA Board of Trustees.

Developed and proposed concept, content, and marketing strategy resulting in acceptance for publication. Managed deadlines so that the book was completed one week ahead of schedule. Reviewed and oversaw changes to multiple drafts from a team of 12 international scholars in a variety of fields, ensuring that writing was clear and approachable for a diverse audience.

Instructed first semester and second semester freshmen in Rhetoric and Introduction to Literature I/II (HE 111 - Prose, Short Stories, and Drama and HE 112 - Poetry and Novels) with a focus on close reading and rhetoric. Worked with students to develop an increased appreciation of various genres of literature and then guided them through in-depth analyses and critical writing assignments. Students worked both alone and in groups on a variety of texts ranging from Sophocles to Faulkner. Incorporated digital archives and research materials into class discussions and projects.
