I teach English classes (ESL/EFL) for students from the pre-intermediate to advanced level. My focuses are Conversation, Fluency, and Pronunciation; specializing in Business English. My classes are personalized for each student. I teach groups or private classes. I've recently changed my focus to include cultural aspects into my lessons, because one really can't separate language from culture. I love teaching pronunciation, which includes word and sentence stress, intonation, and rhythm. This helps the student learn how to communicate more effectively (Speaking skills). In addition, this helps the student with their Listening skills, because they learn how the language is REALLY spoken in REAL life and the world opens up to them finally!! It's exciting to see this develop in my students. They end up learning how to have conversations with native speakers because they understand more than just "book learning" and "classroom learning"

As a small business owner, I was hired by Macnica DHW to be the sole English Instructor for the company. I created the entire course from the beginning. This included testing the skills of each individual in the company to assess their level of English. I formed three groups: beginning, low-intermediate, and low-advanced levels. I chose the material to be used, which included books, short videos to demonstrate various topics. I brought in other material as the course progressed, according to the changing needs of the employees. I found the material that was the most appropriate, based on the interests and needs of each individual. I highly encouraged input from the team to guide their own development in the English language. Role-plays, and Conversational topics were used to encourage free form conversation. Written assignments were given, and as the company deals a lot with their American partners, I taught American-specific cultural lessons, as well. Grades were given after the contracted year ended. I feel very proud of the accomplishments of each student!

I taught English classes for two groups of children at this school. The classes were four hours long. The first was a beginner-level group and the other, a low-advanced group. Classes included activities, games, outings, and theater. Grammar was a focus, along with the introduction of new vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and phrasal verbs. The second part of class was more focused on conversation practice with other students in the group, and me. I conducted the classes in English, and only used Portuguese when necessary.

Installed and monitored erosion pins during rain events and spring runoff, developed protocols for citizen monitoring of amphibians on CTC property, developed Prescribed Fire public survey for Conservancy use, installed 26 monitoring plots for songbird surveys which I completed annually, conducted assessments of aspen stands, installed 6 aspen monitoring stations which will be monitored over several years, collected GPS field data of aspen boundaries, monitoring plot locations, and other needs, researched and secured field equipment and reviewed protocols for sensitive species surveys, obtained permits for and installed 6 groundwater monitoring wells which were measured weekly, developed the restoration project for the annual Tahoe Baikal Institute project.

Provided hospital and home care for orthopedic and medical/surgical patients. Responsibilities included bathing, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, checking vital signs, ambulating, helping with range-of-motion exercises, practicing Standard Precautions, ensuring the safety of the patient, etc. During this time I was able to translate the needs of the Hispanic patients, as I spoke Spanish more fluently during this time.
