With my experience at the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, and at the Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Protection Partnerships Division (which runs the ENERGY STAR program), I have become well-versed in issues pertaining to energy efficiency barriers and opportunities, and key programs and stakeholders in the energy efficiency sector.*Net Zero Construction, Building Decarbonization & Cold Climate Heat Pumps. Served on the State of Colorado's Energy Code Board as the energy efficiency representative as we developed model electric and solar ready codes; With CU Boulder, built and currently live in the 2020 first place winning U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon (net zero) Build Challenge home in Fraser Colorado, the coldest town in the State, heated by cold-climate heat pumps; experience working in residential and commercial efficient new construction at DOE and EPA;*Greenhouse Gas Emissions. Familiar with corporate, organizational, and project-based greenhouse gas quantification standards, including the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and international carbon accounting standards. Among the first CSA- Certified Greenhouse Gas Inventory Quantifiers.*Electric Utility Leadership. As an elected representative on the board of directors of a rural electric cooperative, I understand the challenges and opportunities in decarbonization of the electric utility sector, designing rates, integrating electric vehicles, taking advantage of the record low prices for utility scale renewables, delivering new energy efficiency program options for customers, and navigating long-term contracts with wholesale power providers.*Short Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCPs) in particular HFCs. These pollutants include methane, black carbon, tropospheric ozone and HFCs. Slashing their emissions can mitigate 6 times as much warming as reductions in CO2 emissions alone by 2050. *International Environmental Technology Transfer. I have pursued this theme --accelerating the adoption of energy efficient and more environmentally friendly technologies--throughout my career. *Climate Change.
