Prior to joining UnityPoint Clinics I was the business manager of Medical Group Services at St. Luke's hospital and United Heart Associates.

Responsible for Suite 5000, Managed front desk and coding staff, performed professional billing, assisted in onboarding new employed and contracted providers with clinic set up, staffing and payer credentialing. Worked with central billing office regarding denials, edits and educated my billing staff. I was timekeeper and did all supply ordering. I worked with clients who rented space in suite 5000 assisting with space needs and staffing if needed. I did new provider training for all new providers regarding charge capture and coordinated training with hospital staff.

I was responsible for maintaining and establishing all billing procedures within this cardiology clinic. I worked directly with Groupcast and the central billing office as a "client" establishing payer credentialing, establishing all aspects of professional cardiology billing. I performed professional billing and follow up of missing charges, denials and staff education. I established policies and procedures for billing and scheduling departments. I was the JCAHO contact person for our area and worked with the JCAHO committee to meet and satisfy all JCAHO requirements. I was promoted to manager and was responsible for the billing office, scheduling and medical records staff.

I was responsible for all aspects of billing, collecting payments, implementing and maintaining the MEDIC computer system. I attended workshops and kept up to date on all new payer requirements and formed a group of medical group staff who met monthly to network regarding new issues and existing issues in regards to billing. This group exists today as Linn County Medical Group Managers.
