I am currently appointed as associate professor at Maastricht University. I have set up a research group “Translational Immunometabolism” at the department of Internal Medicine. My group focuses on the immunological events in adipose tissue during obesity and the impact of these events on cardiometabolic complications associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes, including cardiovascular diseases and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. A major strength of the group is our expertise in using animal models of metabolic disease and the immunological phenotyping of metabolic tissues and blood from mice and humans.
