I'm an experienced leader in internal controls, finance, risk management and compliance. I bring a thoughtful and positive approach to analysis, strategy execution, project management, and process improvement. As Vice President Internal Audit & Compliance at Cobb EMC, one of the country’s largest electric distribution cooperatives, I provide independent assurance to the Board of Directors and objective insight to the CEO and senior executives of Cobb EMC and our subsidiary Gas South. I serve on the Risk Management Committee which oversees the enterprise risk management program for both entities, and on Gas South's Management Committee. With consolidated assets over $1.1B and 795 employees, I lead a risk-based approach to identify the most impactful assurance and advisory engagements and compliance oversight activities. Previously, I was Manager Internal Audit and Corporate Risk Management at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), the regulator of the electric grid. I also worked with industry stakeholders to manage risk and evaluate controls, and served on a multi-organization enterprise risk management initiative. I began my career at NERC in an auditor training role, working with stakeholders across the ERO. I started in the electric utility industry at Florida Municipal Power Agency, with roles in finance and enterprise risk management, with responsibility for property, casualty and builders risk insurance for the generation fleet, mid-office for fuel hedging and investments, and analysis of interest rate swaps, debt portfolio, and natural gas prepays. I began my career in auditing with the Audit Bureau of Circulations, now named Alliance for Audited Media.I hold an MBA from Iowa State University and a BA magna cum laude from Iowa Wesleyan College. I'm also a proud graduate of the NRECA Robert I. Kabat Management Internship Program, an executive education program for electric cooperative professionals.
