Administers skilled nursing services to clients requiring intermittent professional services and provides patient education to the client, family and other members of the health care team. All services are performed in accordance with the physician’s orders and the established plan of care developed by the branch manager. Care includes administering medications via IV, IM and or oral medications. Proficient in caring for wound care patients by providing daily dressing changes, compression wraps, and proficient and knowledgeable with wound vacs. Daily administration of insulin injections as well as monitoring fasting and random blood sugars on all diabetic patients. Diabetic education and diet planning provided to patients in need according to the plan of care. Assessment and monitoring of body systems provided daily. Proficient with venipuncture for labs and regular monitoring of PT/INR for patients provided with approved orders. All care provided within the client home while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Provide the highest level of care to patients and assure their safety, comfort, and well-being. Use of superior nursing skills to perform patient assessments through observation and interviews, provide chronic hemodialysis therapy, monitor vital signs, collect patient data, and assist with machine and systems monitoring as required. Educate patients on maintaining a proper diet and also administering medications via IV. Not only must dialysis nurses understand the pathophysiology of kidney disease and anticipate the possible complications of dialysis, they must also understand how the dialysis machine itself works. The dialysis nurse does all blood draws that are necessary during the procedure, using a double lumen catheter for access. Additionally, the dialysis nurse is responsible for changing catheter dressings and assuring that all catheters are patent. The dialysis nurse is also the primary patient educator, explaining procedures as they take place and answering questions the patient may have felt too intimidated to ask the physician. Finally, the dialysis nurse is responsible for documenting the procedure.
