Successfully awarded two grants for projects. Conducted research to better inform grants submitted by the organization. Create outreach materials, including booklets, flyers, rack cards and more to demonstrate the importance of the organization’s work to the communities it serves in Northeast Michigan and to strengthen ties with the community members. Handle the social media accounts for the organization, increasing the number of followers since November, and currently updating the organization’s website. Assist the AmeriCorps program, facilitating trainings and mentoring 30 college graduates as they serve across the state improving public and private land, educating children and more.

Served 10 months as an AmeriCorps member with Huron Pines and worked on a variety of projects, concerning habitat management, water quality and community engagement. Wrote two grants and was awarded both. Engaged numerous volunteers for a variety of events to improve our local communities, including a jack pine planting day and invasive species pulls. Conducted site visits with public and private landowners to schedule the treatment of invasive species. Served as a member of the Kirtland’s Warbler Festival Committee with local community partners and hosted the Festival in Roscommon, MI. Instructed hundreds of local students on the importance of our native ecosystems with the Kirtland’s Warbler & Charity Island Projects.

Oversaw the day-to-day operations of the intramural program with hundreds of participants by handling questions and conflicts through phone calls, emails and conversations at the game sites. Developed game schedules for many different sport leagues and managed a staff of officials by hosting training sessions and creating shift schedules. Supervised multi-million dollar facilities and a staff of 10-15 officials on site, verifying work hours and providing hands-on training. Began as an official freshman year, and through hard work, dedication and loyalty to the program rose to a supervisor position and ultimately became a coordinator.
