Growing up in a family of sailing adventurers, I learned early the importance of having a good chart, well-functioning systems and a highly coordinated & harmonious crew. The first time we sailed around the world, I was in second and third grades. On that trip, we used a sextant and radar to navigate, ham radio to communicate to family and friends in distant places, and we washed the dishes and bathed in saltwater. We sometimes spent weeks at sea, rationing fresh water and fresh foods, and when we made landfall, we had to make do with whatever provisions we could find in the local markets, butchers and bakeries as we visited places both exotic and familiar. With modern technology and global communications, the world is now a much smaller place to travel, but knowing your current location, how to get where you want to go, and having a good crew working together are still the most essential ingredients for a successful voyage - and for a successful business. I have built my professional career on these lessons, applying problem solving, communication and organizational skills to help my company articulate its goals, to design and implement reliable systems & successful projects, and to build & manage strong, flexible teams that deliver beyond expectation. My career includes stints in commercial real estate investment & financial management, utility scale solar development, on-site power generation and emergency response, multimedia content production, and back to renewable energy development. I thrill at solving problems and finding efficiencies, and I am passionate about helping to build a sustainable future. I am also devoted to bridging communication divides and generating understanding between industries (or individuals) that rely on old technologies and those that are transforming our world. A sextant may seem quaint compared to a modern GPS system, but to use it one has to look at the stars - never a bad thing.
