I am a graduate of McMaster University's Electrical & Biomedical Engineering program. Ever since a young age, my passion always lied in understanding how the things around me worked. What could go wrong with those things? How could they be improved?Fast forward a few years to my arrival at McMaster University where I was presented with my first big challenge: create a device to aid a stroke patient in rehabilitation and completing a simple daily task. This was where I began the process of thinking like an engineer. The first breakthrough came from understanding that bigger problems can be tackled as smaller, more do-able, pieces. This thought process was essential in creating the final device, for which my team and I were later awarded an Engineering Certificate of Achievement. Our project was selected as one of the top ten projects out of 212 teams. The way I see it, universities provide you with the background knowledge in various tools and applications, and then it is up to the individual to invest themselves and their passion into whatever project they work on. Wherever there is potential to create or improve, I am all in!
